Our Story

DINO CONSTANTINOU GREW UP ON THE GREEK ISLAND OF CYPRUS. IN 1969, HE MOVED TO NEW YORK TO COMPLETE HIGH SCHOOL AND BEGAN WORKING AT HIS UNCLE’S DINER.

By the time he was 18, he had been promoted to head chef. In 1977, Dino moved again–to Florida. Here he was able to explore the restaurant business, to learn, and to gain a greater understanding of American culture before ultimately building his own business with his son, George.

Dino and George had a vision: To open a Greek restaurant serving only the best and freshest Greek cuisine using recipes passed down through their family. With George’s background in business management and Dino’s knowledge of traditional Greek culture, The Hungry Greek was born. Their first location opened in West Tampa in 2006. It was so successful that in 2009, Dino and George opened their second Hungry Greek in Wesley Chapel.

The Hungry Greek offers a casual dining experience with an open kitchen design that allows guests to watch their meal roasting on our spit and capture the aroma of our wood-burning grill. Our variety of homemade Greek dishes includes: gyros, souvlaki, avyolemono soup, mousaka, pastitsio, dolmades, and Greek salads. We also offer traditional American fare, such as hamburgers and cold-cut sandwiches. Come meet Dino and George and let our family feed your family.
